It delivers confident grip and responsive handling across dry, wet, and light winter conditions, making it a strong year-round choice for drivers who refuse to compromise on performance between seasons. A 50,000-mile tread life warranty adds long-term value to the package.

An asymmetrical tread pattern works alongside a performance all-season rubber compound to sharpen handling and cornering in varied conditions. Full-depth 3D sipes extend braking capability on both wet and dry pavement, while open shoulder slots channel water away to lower hydroplaning risk. The computer-optimized tread layout also keeps road noise in check for a more refined driving experience.

We stock the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS in 45 sizes for 16"–20" wheels — every size below lists its exact specs.

Key Features

Asymmetrical tread pattern enhances handling, cornering, and free rotation

Full-depth 3D sipes improve braking on wet and dry road surfaces

Open shoulder slots reduce hydroplaning risk in wet conditions

All-season compound provides grip in dry, wet, and light snow conditions

Computer-tuned tread design helps minimize road noise

50,000-mile limited tread life warranty for long-term confidence

Not run-flat; standard construction optimized for UHP performance

Performance Profile

Season Coverage: UHP All-Season

Projected Longevity: UTQG treadwear 500 · 50,000-mile manufacturer tread-life warranty

Traction Grade: A (UTQG wet traction)

Temperature Grade: A (UTQG heat resistance)

About Bridgestone Tires

Founded in Japan in 1931, Bridgestone has grown into one of the world's largest tire manufacturers, operating more than 181 production and sales facilities across 24 countries. The company reached several engineering milestones early on, introducing Japan's first steel radial tires for trucks in 1962, followed by passenger vehicle radials in 1964. A landmark safety development came in 1986 with the debut of Run-Flat Technology, enabling vehicles to travel at up to 50 mph after a complete loss of tire pressure. Bridgestone expanded its global footprint significantly with the 1988 acquisition of Firestone Tire & Rubber Company.

Bridgestone has a long history in motorsports, including years as a tire supplier in Formula 1, and has served as a Worldwide Olympic Partner since 2014. The company markets tires under several sub-brands, including Firestone, Fuzion, and SureDrive. Its core product families span a wide range of driving needs and include the Potenza, Turanza, Alenza, Dueler, Blizzak, Driveguard, WeatherPeak, and Ecopia lines, covering performance, touring, all-terrain, winter, and fuel-efficiency categories.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Potenza RE980AS a directional tire?

No, the RE980AS uses an asymmetrical tread pattern rather than a directional one. This means the tire can be rotated in any pattern, giving you more flexibility at service intervals and helping you get even wear across all four positions.

How does the RE980AS handle wet roads and light snow?

The combination of 3D sipes, an all-season rubber compound, and open shoulder slots gives the RE980AS solid wet-weather traction and adequate capability in light snow or slush. That said, it is not Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake certified, so it is not recommended for moderate to severe winter conditions — a dedicated winter tire remains the better choice for those situations.

Is the Potenza RE980AS a quiet, comfortable tire for a performance model?

Yes, relatively so. Bridgestone engineered the tread layout with noise reduction in mind, which helps keep the cabin quieter than many UHP tires. Ride comfort is also respectable for a tire in this performance category.

What warranty comes with the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS?

Bridgestone backs the RE980AS with a 50,000-mile limited tread life warranty, which is notably generous for an ultra-high-performance all-season tire. Be sure to follow Bridgestone's recommended rotation and inflation guidelines to keep the warranty valid.

Is the RE980AS a run-flat tire?

No, the Potenza RE980AS is a standard (non-run-flat) tire. If your vehicle originally came equipped with run-flat tires, consult with us before switching to a non-run-flat model, as some vehicles lack a spare tire when run-flats are removed.

Do I get the full manufacturer warranty buying from TFS Wheels?

Yes.
