Americus tires are designed to serve a wide range of vehicle types, including passenger cars, CUVs, SUVs, light trucks, and commercial vehicles.

The Americus catalog spans several distinct product families. The Recon line is engineered for drivers seeking high-performance handling and capable all-season touring. For those who venture off the pavement, the All Terrain and Rugged families are built to deliver confident traction in challenging off-road environments. Americus also maintains dedicated tire lines for commercial vehicle applications, rounding out a broad and practical product range.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 245/45R19XL102V mean?

245 is the tread width in millimeters, 45 means the sidewall is 45% of that width, and R19 is the 19-inch rim it mounts on. 102 is the load index (1,874 lbs per tire), and V is the speed rating (up to 149 mph).

How well does the Recon Tour handle road noise on the highway?

The Recon Tour uses computer-optimized pitch sequencing across its tread blocks to break up the repeating patterns that cause road noise. Combined with an optimized tread profile, the result is a noticeably quieter, more comfortable ride at highway speeds.

How does the Recon Tour perform in wet conditions?

The tire's wide circumferential grooves and angled siping work together to evacuate water from the contact patch, reducing the risk of hydroplaning. Shoppers can expect solid wet-road confidence in rain and light standing water, though dedicated performance summer tires may edge it out in extreme downpours.

Can the Recon Tour handle light snow?

Yes — the dense siping and groove design provide meaningful grip in light snow and slushy conditions. However, the Recon Tour is not Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake certified, so drivers in regions with heavy snowfall or frequent icy roads should consider a dedicated winter tire for those months.

Is the 70,000-mile warranty a reliable indicator of tread life?

The 70,000-mile limited tread life warranty reflects Americus's confidence in the tire's durability under normal driving conditions. Actual mileage will vary based on driving habits, vehicle alignment, inflation maintenance, and road surfaces, so keeping up with routine tire care will help you get the most out of that coverage.

What vehicles is the Recon Tour a good fit for?

The Recon Tour is designed for sedans, CUVs, and SUVs, and TFS Wheels stocks it in 20 sizes spanning 15" to 19" rim diameters.
